This project has been sitting on my hard drive for over a year now, and I have finally finished it after picking it up very sporadically from time to time. Collecting all the daily screenshots shows that there were 64 individual work sessions that went into this piece (Check out the Time-lapse below!). This project was honestly born out of some spite I felt after a failed interview. The interviewer asked "Can you make everything in a scene, like trees, can you sculpt a tree without speed tree?" I replied, "Well, I haven't had to before, but I am confident I can figure it out." So here we are, I sculpted a tree, and a 6-armed statue, and all those massive pieces and pillars and rocks. I decided to truncate the project a bit by supplementing Megascans props and standard foliage to get it over the finish line, (and y'all know I can make a barrel lol). This project was super fun and I really enjoyed piecing together a scene like this that I haven't done before. I wanted to do something really grand and this had great modular and texture reuse potential.
I used this project to explore concepts that were new to me like: Nanite (Assets/Landscapes/Foliage), UDIM workflows, UE5 modeling tools for damaged assets, Rock/Tree/figure sculpting, and large scale modular assets.
